Plaza of Fame Winner Lee Jean Heller
The City of West Carrollton is pleased to announce Lee Jean Heller as the nominee for the 2024 Plaza of Fame Award. This award has been given by the City Council since 2003 and recognizes current or former citizens who have made a unique or noteworthy contribution to making the City a better place to live. Lee Jean Heller served on the West Carrollton Fire Department as an Emergency Medical Technician from 1978 through 2001. New Dog Park in West Carrollton
Parks and Recreation Director Christian Mattingly announced at the March 12th council meeting plans to construct a new dog park for our furry residents. Hintermeister Park was chosen as the location for this project. Many factors are attributed to the reasoning behind this decision, such as; open space, parking availability, shade, restrooms, and water system. The project will cost around $48,000, covering fencing, a drinking fountain, a cement pad, benches, plantings, signs, gravel, and other expenses. Ms. Amber Holloway enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at Wright State University with the vision of becoming a city manager. She was a city planner for Vandalia and was promoted to assistant city manager during her second year as a graduate student at Wright State. The West Carrollton River District and Whitewater Park’s first phases of infrastructure are set to begin this spring. The River District will feature dining and retail options, along with apartments, condominiums, and a hotel. The Whitewater Park will offer kayaking, river surfing, a lazy river feature, and more. The City of West Carrollton announced Rick Barnhart has taken office as their new mayor, according to a social media post by the city. West Carrollton is seeking to gain ground on funding for a project expected to create hundreds of jobs and draw more than 100,000 visitors annually.
