During the July 28, 2026, City Council meeting, West Carrollton City Council Member Mike Boyle announced his resignation, effective immediately following the meeting.
Boyle is resigning as he will no longer reside within the West Carrollton city limits and is therefore ineligible to continue serving on the City Council.
Boyle was appointed to the West Carrollton City Council on February 13, 2024, and was later elected to a full four-year term that began January 1, 2026.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the residents of West Carrollton,” Boyle said. “I appreciate the opportunity to have represented our community and worked alongside my fellow Council members, City staff, and the citizens who care deeply about our city’s future. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during my time on Council. I wish West Carrollton continued success in the years ahead.”
“Serving on City Council requires a significant commitment, and I want to thank Mike for the time he devoted to serving the residents of West Carrollton,” Mayor Rick Barnhart said. “We wish Mike all the best in this next chapter.”
Boyle’s resignation creates a vacancy on the West Carrollton City Council. In accordance with the City Charter, the City Council will begin the process of filling the vacant seat. Information regarding the application process and deadlines will be announced in the coming days.
