The street maintenance functions includes minor maintenance and cleaning of the 60+ miles of City streets and storm sewers. The activities of this function include street repair and cracksealing; street cleaning which includes sweeping, leaf collection, and pickup of dead animals; cleaning of storm sewers and catch basins; snow and ice control; roadside maintenance which includes quardrails and ditches; and the maintenance of traffic control devices including traffic signs, traffic signals, and pavement markings.

Leaf Collection

The service department will begin the leaf collection schedule during the second week of October. Crews will make continuous loops around the city. Residents should expect at least one week or more between collections. Leaves should be raked along the curb line in order for the vacuum trucks to collect the piles, which should be free of branches, sticks, grass and litter. The last run through the city will occur during the first week of December.
