Manchester Road at E. Dixie Drive traffic will be rerouted onto a temporary roadway as construction begins on Phase I of the City’s River District Improvements. This work, focused on the intersection of E. Dixie Drive and Manchester Road, is a key step in revitalizing the area.
Traffic is being routed through the former Roberds site, connecting to E. Dixie Drive at a temporary signalized intersection, which will remain open for the duration of the project. Lane closures on E. Dixie Drive will occur throughout the construction, so drivers are urged to exercise caution.
Phase I improvements include:
- Enhancements to the E. Dixie Drive and Manchester Road intersection include a right-turn lane.
- Installation of a temporary traffic signal, with permanent mast arm signals coming in Phase II.
- Widening Manchester Road, along with new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
- Extension of water mains and sanitary sewers to support future development.
- A new storm sewer system to manage runoff into a regional detention basin.
The first phase of the River District project is scheduled for completion by the end of September 2024. The city appreciates the public’s patience as it undertakes these vital infrastructure upgrades to prepare the River District for future development.
