
The City of West Carrollton is pleased to announce the promotion of David Wessling to the position of Police Chief.
David Wessling began his career with the West Carrollton Police Department as a Police Officer in 2001, serving in that role until 2008. He was then promoted to Sergeant, a position he held until 2016, when he was named Deputy Chief. Over the past nine years as Deputy Chief, Wessling has demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment to public safety, and a collaborative approach to community policing.
Wessling holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Ohio University and is a certified law enforcement executive (CLEE) through the Law Enforcement Foundation, as well as a graduate of the distinguished FBI National Academy.
Chief Wessling succeeds retired Chief Doug Woodard, bringing a wealth of experience and a vision for the department that emphasizes innovation, accountability, and strong community partnerships, and is set to be officially sworn in at the City Council meeting on September 9th, 2025.
