City of West Carrollton Planning Commission is Seeking New Member

Are you passionate about the future of West Carrollton? Do you want to make a lasting impact on your community’s development? The City of West Carrollton is currently seeking a volunteer Planning Commission Member to serve a five-year term.

What Is the Planning Commission?

The Planning Commission plays a key role in shaping the growth and physical development of our city. Established by Section 9.01 of the City Charter, and governed by Section 154.05.04 of the Zoning Code, Planning Commission Rules of Procedure, and Chapter 713 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Commission:

  • Recommends a Comprehensive General Plan for the city’s future growth
  • Prepares and updates the Zoning Code and Zoning Map
  • Reviews and approves site plans and subdivisions of land (plats)
  • Provides zoning recommendations for newly annexed properties
  • Recommends street and alley vacations to the City Council
  • Reviews Conditional Use Permit applications
  • Interprets the Zoning Code for land uses not specifically listed

Who Can Serve?

The Planning Commission is made up of five West Carrollton residents, appointed by City Council. Appointees are selected based on their interest and involvement in the community.

  • Term: 5 years
  • Compensation: Volunteer (unpaid)
  • Meetings: 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm (may meet on the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30pm if/when needed)
  • Location: Civic Center – 300 E. Central Avenue
