Natural Gas aggregation allows the City of West Carrollton to negotiate lower natural gas supply rates on behalf of our residents and small businesses by leveraging the collective buying power of our communities.
Through the Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC), West Carrollton participates in a multi-community gas aggregation program, currently served by Archer Energy, a PUCO-certified natural gas supplier.

What is Municipal Aggregation?
Municipal Aggregation is when a group of communities join together to combine their purchasing power. In our case, 18 local communities teamed up with the Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC) to achieve this pricing. The process of aggregation can generate products for communities that are more favorable than an individual customer may be able to achieve.
Who is Archer Energy?
Archer Energy is a leading retail supplier of natural gas and is licensed by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and approved by CenterPoint Energy (“utility”).
What is the aggregation program rate?
The aggregation rate is $0.6625 per Ccf. This fixed-rate will be in effect until May of 2027.
Will I receive a separate bill from Archer?
No, CenterPoint Energy will continue to bill you for its services as well as Archer’s service.
How do I enroll?
Eligible residential or business customers will be automatically enrolled in the program subject to certain restrictions.
What does it mean to opt out of the program?
Opting out means choosing not to participate in the community’s natural gas aggregation program. If you opt out, your service will continue with your current utility or with another supplier you select. You may also compare alternative suppliers and rates at www.energychoice.ohio.gov.
Who is eligible to participate?
Most small business and residential customers located inside the community’s boundary lines that are not already enrolled in a special natural gas pricing rate are eligible.

When will I see my new rate?
If you do not opt-out during the initial opt-out period, you will see the new rate on your November 2025 bill. If you join the program later, you can generally expect to see the new rate one to two billing cycles following your enrollment in the program.
If my payments are automatically deducted from my checking, will that continue?
Yes, how you pay the utility bill will not change.
Who do I call if I have a problem with my natural gas service and who will deliver my natural gas?
Your local utility will continue to be responsible for servicing your account and responding to any disruptions in service.
I already have a deregulated supplier; can I still join the aggregation?
You should check with your current supplier on your ability to terminate the agreement without incurring fees. You can always join the program later, under the same terms and conditions.
Is there an early termination fee for leaving the program after the 21-day opt-out period?
No, there is no early termination fee for leaving the program at any point in time.
I am currently on budget billing. Will that continue?
Yes, the utility will continue to provide you with a budget bill.
What should I know about Natural Gas Aggregation that isn’t covered above?
Unlike Electric Aggregation, which often focuses on generating clear cost savings, Natural Gas Aggregation is primarily about providing bill stability. Natural gas prices can rise and fall throughout the year, especially during high-demand months like winter. By participating in aggregation, residents receive a fixed rate for their natural gas supply. This means bills are more predictable from month to month, but it does not guarantee overall savings compared to the utility’s variable rate.
How do I contact Archer if I have any additional questions?
If you have additional questions about the program, please contact Archer Energy toll free at 844-795-7491 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
