2019 marks the 12th year that dogs will get their chance to dive into Wilson Pool before it’s closed and drained for the season.
West Carrollton’s Doggie Dive will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at Wilson Pool, 1226 S. Elm St. The pool’s last open day for people is Monday, Sept. 2.
Admission to the event is $5 per family and a portion of the proceeds will benefit local dog organizations such as Luv4K9s, Wonderdogs Rescue and the Humane Society of Dayton. The city has donated more than $15,000 from the event to local groups since the its inception in 2008.
There will be dog contests and activities including costume contests. Several dog rescue organizations will showcase dogs during the Adoptable Mutt-Strut that are available for adoption.
Concessions will be available, as well as several pet and non-pet related vendors on display. The deadline to register as a vendor is Wednesday, Sept. 4.
“We would like to thank Twin Maples Veterinary Hospital and Farmers & Merchants Bank for sponsoring this year’s Doggie Dive. It is great to have those in the community supporting our fundraising event,” stated Christian Mattingly, director of parks and recreation.
Owners should bring their well-behaved dogs on non-retractable leashes who are not in-heat.
