Rake Rally 2019

The West Carrollton City Beautiful Commission is holding their annual Rake Rally at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. They are seeking volunteers to help with the event. Volunteers will meet at the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave., and then disperse across the city to help residents in getting their front-yard leaves to the curb for pickup.

“We want to encourage any resident who needs help raking their leaves to let us know. Many times, some of our residents aren’t able to physically get all their leaves to the curb and that’s where we come in and offer assistance,” said Parks Director Christian Mattingly, “We’ve been holding this event for several years and want to help as many people as possible which is why we’re not only looking for residents to reach out if they need help but, we’re also seeking volunteers for that day.”

Any resident who would like to receive help during the event should contact (937) 859-5182 or parks@westcarrollton.org and provide their name, address and phone by Wednesday, Nov.10.

Volunteers will receive a long-sleeve ‘Rake Rally’ t-shirt (until supplies last) for their service. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own rakes, leaf blowers, or tarps, if possible. Some materials, such as rakes, gloves and bags, will be available.

The West Carrollton service department continues their weekly leaf collection at the curb line through early December. Leaf piles should be free of sticks, stones and other debris to avoid damage to the vacuum truck.
