The bicycle ride, which starts in Miamisburg between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., will have a rest-stop on Marina Drive near the new Adventures on the Great Miami River canoe and kayak livery.
In addition to kids craft activities sponsored by the West Carrollton Parks and Recreation Department and participation by the West Carrollton Fire Department, there will be a Demo Day provided by Adventures on the Great Miami, located at 5641 Marina Drive.
Demo Day will feature the opportunity to see, sit in, and take out on the water, the various types of canoes and kayaks that will soon be available for rent at the new livery. The Demo Day, held from 9 a.m. to noon, will also feature a raffle prize drawing for a $50 gift certificate. The company will officially open on June 1 – and plans to make many external and internal renovations to the space.
The May 13 River Ride is one of two free events planned along the Great Miami River this summer – another will be held on June 3, from Miamisburg to Franklin.
Pre-registration is available at www.DriveLessLiveMore.org. However, on-site registration is available on the day of the event at Riverfront Park, 3 N. Miami Ave. Children, age 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult.
“We’re excited to be an active participant in many future events planned along the Riverway corridor,” said Christian Mattingly, West Carrollton parks and recreation director. The many partners in the Riverway coalition are actively seeking new ways to partner and promote the unique recreation opportunities available along the river, he said.
