A ceremony honoring veterans will be held in West Carrollton during Memorial Day weekend.
A Memorial service, organized by the Combined Honor Guard of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3438 and American Legion Post 165, will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 26 with wreath-tossing ceremony at the Farmersville-West Carrollton Road Bridge, followed by a ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery.
Several members of the West Carrollton High School Marching Band will also perform “Taps” and the “Star Spangled Banner” during the ceremony. State Representative Niraj Antani will also speak.
On the day before the ceremony, volunteers of all ages, including local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, are requested to help place flags on the graves of veterans buried at Evergreen Cemetery. Volunteers should meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 at the cemetery offices located at 401 N. Miami Ave.
