parks events for march

The Parks Department has planned two new events for March. Children and adults can make beautiful Sand Art crafts Saturday, March 13, and a Spring Nature Walk along the trail in Hintermeister Park is scheduled for Saturday, March 20.

Two sessions will be available for the Sand Art program where you will create unique designs using colored sand, succulents and tea lights in glass containers. There will be a limited number of participants in each session to maintain social distancing requirements. Session one will be 10-10:30 a.m. Session two will be 11-11:30 a.m. Registration is required and can be done online here. The cost for each participant is $5 and includes sand, two containers per person, and additional supplies.

The Spring Nature Walk will explore Hintermeister Park, 1300 Mayrose Dr., with parks staff as they celebrate the beginning of spring Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. Registration is recommended for this free event. Register here.

Teresa Slonaker, events coordinator, is “excited to be able to bring new programs to the city and I am looking forward to bringing more people to our parks for outdoor events in the coming weeks.”
