Kids Get Ready to Cycle, Sprint & Swim

The Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a new Mini-Triathlon event at Wilson Park on Saturday, Aug. 5.


The new Super Heroes in Training event is open to children from ages 4 to 11 years old. Cost is $5 per child and includes a t-shirt, when registered by July 26. More information, including online registration, can be found at:


Competitors will be divided into three age groups including 4-5, 6-8, 9-11 years old.


The youngest group, age 4-5 years old, will cycle, ¼ mile, run, ¼ mile and swim 25 meters. The 6-8 year old group will cycle ½ mile, spring ½ mile, and swim 50 meters. The 9-11 year old group will cycle ¾ mile, run ¾ mile, and swim 100 meters.


Participants must bring bikes, helmets, tennis shoes and proper swim attire. Check in will begin at 8:15 a.m. The first race, starting with 4-5 year olds, will begin at 9:10 a.m.
