Salary Range $19.57 – $26.19 /hr.

The City of West Carrollton is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Planning & Community Development Department. This position is full-time with full benefits and is expected to work during normal city operating hours between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Attendance at periodic evening board meetings is required.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for a variety of diverse clerical and administrative tasks, under the general direction of the Director of Planning & Community Development.  Along with the Part-Time Administrative Assistant, this position serves as the initial point of contact with the public for the Planning & Community Development Department and other offices. The Administrative Assistant provides clerical support for the planning and code enforcement functions of the department, as well as for the Service Department and Economic Development.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with the public, coworkers, and city officials is essential.  The Administrative Assistant must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and the internet, and Microsoft Access and PowerPoint experience is desirable.  The incumbent has been responsible for preparing maps using ArcGIS software, and as such the successful candidate will be asked to learn and use this software.  The ability to operate office equipment, maintain records efficiently and accurately, record and prepare minutes, handle confidential information, and type at least 60 WPM is required.  Regular and predictable attendance is critical in this position.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or the equivalent,  prior secretarial experience/training, or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Certification as a Notary Public is required, which may be obtained after employment.
