Extended Hours Offered for Local Tax Returns

Posted on April 2, 2019

The West Carrollton finance department will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and Monday, April 15, to assist last-minute local tax filers.

“Please remember that lines can be long during this time,” said Tom Reilly, finance director. “We provide assistance for anyone who needs help with their local return,” he said.

Reilly encourages residents to try the tax calculator or emailing their w-2 to the department at financedir@westcarrollton.org to help complete the city return.

All residents, age 18 and older, are required to file a city income tax return, whether or not tax is owed. “That includes students even if they are still claimed on their parents’ federal return,” he said.

Residents, age 65 and older, are exempt from filing if they only have non-taxable social security or retirement income. However, they must still file if they earned wages or self-employment income.

“Don’t forget to file by April 15 to avoid owing a $25 late fee,” Reilly said.

West Carrollton city tax forms are available at the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave., in both the library and finance department. The forms can also be downloaded from the website.

Regular Civic Center hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (937) 859-8288 with questions.
