2021 marks the 13th year that dogs will get their chance to dive into Wilson Pool before it’s closed and drained for the season.
West Carrollton’s Doggie Dive will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 6, at Wilson Pool, 1226 S. Elm St., which is the pool’s last open day of the season. Concessions will be available all day.
“The event is on a new day and time this year. Given the evolving changes that have occurred recently, we decided on this new format. We are looking forward to the event, and want to remind everyone that it continues to help pets in need. And you’re still able to get in the water with your own pups in the pool,” stated Christian Mattingly, parks and recreation director.
Admission to the event is $5 per pet family and all proceeds will benefit local dog rescue organizations. The city has donated more than $15,000 from the event to local groups since the its inception in 2008.
“We’ve already had an early donation of $250 for the event. Sponsorships are still available and we, of course, welcome additional donations prior to or at the event to support our pet rescue organizations,” expressed Mattingly. Contact the parks and recreation department for information about sponsorship or donating at (937) 859-5182.
As a reminder, owners should bring their well-behaved, vaccinated dogs on non-retractable leashes. No dogs in heat should attend the event for the safety of pets and people.
