Boil Advisory Lifted for WC County Water Customers

Posted on May 30, 2019

Boil advisory lifted for portions of Dayton, Montgomery County and Greene County

– Residents are still urged to conserve water –

News Release: Shared from City of Dayton

The boil advisory has been lifted for the following areas:

  • City of Dayton low service area,
  • Montgomery County southern system,
  • and portions of Greene County (the Clyo and Swigart pressure zones).

Water customers are asked to enter their service address into the search field of the map at www.daytonohio.gov/boiladvisory to display the boil advisory status for the address. A non-interactive map showing boundary areas is available here.

The decision to lift the advisory in these limited areas was made collaboratively by the City of Dayton, Montgomery County, Greene County, and the Ohio EPA. An estimated time for complete water system restoration or lifting the boil advisory in remaining areas is not available.

While the boil advisory is lifted in portions of the system, we ask that everyone continue to conserve water, as some areas are still recovering and under a boil advisory. Please limit water usage to essential needs only.

What to do after a water boil advisory has ended

After an advisory has been lifted, it does not mean that the water can be consumed right away. Please see the checklists below for actions that need to be taken after a water boil advisory has ended.

Residents

  • Flush water
  • Unscrew and remove the faucet aerator (screen)
  • Turn on each cold water faucet/tap slowly
  • Run cold water for three minutes
  • Clean and reinstall aerator

  Food Establishments

  • Flush pipes/faucets for at least three minutes
  • Equipment with water line connections must be flushed, cleaned, and sanitized
  • Flush drinking water fountains for at least three minutes
