AT&T Line Replacement Project Requires Closure

Posted on April 23, 2019

Upcoming Road Closure Starting on Monday, April 29, AT&T will be replacing a utility line that’s currently attached to the Elm Street Bridge and rerouting the line under Owl Creek.

The project, which is being completed before this summer’s Elm Street bridge replacement project begins, will require one lane of closures on Elm Street between Gibbons Road and Maplehill Drive.

Southbound Elm Street traffic will remain open, but will not be able to turn left onto Gibbons Road.  Due to the work in the intersection of Gibbons Road and Elm Street, northbound traffic will not be able to travel across the bridge or turn on Gibbons Road.  Westbound traffic on Gibbons Road will not have access to Elm Street.  Access to adjacent driveways on Elm Street will remain open. Detour signs will be posted.AT&T detour map

This excavation work, which is the first phase of the AT&T project, is expected to last about two weeks. Additional road closures will be necessary once the line-splicing phase of the project begins.

The Elm Street bridge replacement project will have a bid-opening for contractors on May 16.  Peripheral work adjacent to the bridge is expected to begin in June – including water, sanitary sewer, Vectren and DP&L utility line relocations.  The Elm Street bridge is expected to be closed for demolition and reconstruction for approximately three months, starting around August 1.
