West Carrollton Police Administrative Sgt. Robert Hensley is one of 29 recent graduates of the Certified Law Enforcement Executive program.
Hensley was recognized for completing the 14-month course during a ceremony on Feb. 15 in Worthington, Ohio. The program, co-sponsored by the Law Enforcement Foundation, Inc., and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, covers topics such as ethics, strategic planning, organizational values, and resource allocation.
“The program is designed to elevate the standards of excellence for law enforcement executives,” according to a news release from the Law Enforcement Foundation.
Hensley is the third West Carrollton police officer to graduate from the program. Only 300 people have graduated since the program began about 15 years ago.
He said the year-long program was intense with regular exams and required papers. “It offered valuable lessons that I will be able to put into practice on a daily basis here in West Carrollton,” he said. |

Interested in swimming at West Carrollton’s Wilson Pool this summer? Discounted pre-season passes sales begin March 1. Pool pass rates remain the same as last year.
“We’ve been able to operate in the black, because we’ve seen very high attendance at the pool in recent years,” said Christian Mattingly, parks and recreation director. “That carryover balance has allowed us to keep rates low, as well as make some essential mechanical repairs,” he said.
Residents’ pre-season rates are: $55 for youth (ages 4-17) and senior citizens (over age 55); $65 for adults; and $140 for a family, up to 4 members of the same household. Each additional family member, added to a family-pass, is $25. Anyone who lives or works in the city of West Carrollton or attends West Carrollton School District will receive the resident rate, with proof of residency or employment.
Pre-season, non-resident rates are: $75 for youth (ages 4-17) and senior citizens (over age 55); $85 for adults; and $185 for a family, up to 4 members of the same household. Each additional family member, added to the family-pass, is $35.
Pre-season rates end when the pool opens on May 25. Rates increase by $10.

The city of West Carrollton is seeking vendors for a new Farmer’s Market planned for 833 E. Central Ave.
The vacant lot, formerly a McDonald’s restaurant site, is owned by the city. “We’ve received several requests in the past few years from residents who were interested in a local market for fresh fruits and vegetables,” said Brad Townsend, city manager.
“This seemed like the ideal location because it’s easily accessible and has right the combination of green space and pavement for parking,” he said.According to statistics from the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, about 13,000 vehicles pass the site each day.
The market will begin on May 28 and continue through October - open each Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m.
