There are currently openings on West Carrollton’s Planning Commission and SummerFest Committee.

Colleen Smith, a member of the Planning Commission for five years, recently resigned from her volunteer role due to moving out of the city limits. The Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. The purpose of the commission is to recommend to City Council a comprehensive plan for the city’s zoning physical development, to prepare and amend the zoning code and map, and to review and approve development plans.

Brian Richardson, an active member of the Summer Festival Committee, also resigned due to his move to West Virginia. The SummerFest Committee volunteers meet monthly to plan the fundraising, entertainment, and vendors for the event typically held on the last Saturday in June.

Interested applicants for either volunteer board can call the City Manager’s Office at (937) 859-5181 or download an application here. The positions are decided by the West Carrollton city council, which meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave.
