The operations of this division are supervised by the Street and Refuse Superintendent with five (5) full-time employees.
The street maintenance functions includes minor maintenance and cleaning of the 60+ miles of City streets and storm sewers. The activities of this function include street repair and cracksealing; street cleaning which includes sweeping, leaf collection, and pickup of dead animals; cleaning of storm sewers and catch basins; snow and ice control; roadside maintenance which includes quardrails and ditches; and the maintenance of traffic control devices including traffic signs, traffic signals, and pavement markings. 2008 Fall Leaf Pickup Schedule
The Service department will start making leaf pickups on October 20. Leaves should be raked along the curb line in order for the vacuum trucks to collect the piles.
The city is divided into two sections for collection:
In Area A, collection will occur during the weeks of October 20, November 3, November 17 and December 1.
In Area B, collection will begin during the week of October 27, November 10, November 24 and December 8.
The last run through the city will occur on December 15-16. |
