EXPLORER POST 149

The West Carrollton Explorer Post 149 was formed in September of 1999. The Explorer program was established due to a shortage of young new firefighters. The West Carrollton Fire Department would like to have a pool of well-trained, professional youth to recruit from when it comes time to hire more Firefighters/EMT's. The program is designed for High School men and women (Grades 9-12) who have an interest in Fire/EMS. It gives the students an idea as to what a career in the Fire Service involves.   Whether it is career or volunteer, firefighting can be very rewarding.  The youth will be taught how to use ground ladders, rescue tools, and other tools of the trade.  The explorers will also be introduced to emergency medicine.

The students will also be involved in different community projects.  One project will be helping the men and women of WCFD with the Fill the Boot campaign for Muscular Dystrophy.  There will be a number of other community activities the young men and women will be involved in.  If there are any questions or you are interested please call and leave a message with the West Carrollton Fire Department at 937-847-4645.  You can also email Gary Hardy at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
