The Building Inspection Department's responsibility is to insure the health, safety, and welfare of the public through enforcement of building code regulations and zoning ordinances.  The building regulations are contained in the Residential Code of Ohio for One, Two, and Three Family Structures, OBC Building Code, ICC Building Code, and the 2003 International Property Maintenance Code.  Building codes not only establish the minimum construction standards for new buildings - as well as for additions to, or remodeling of, existing buildings - but allow the Building Inspection Department to encourage creativity and quality. 

The Building Inspection Department also issues permits and makes inspections for all construction, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, heating and air conditioning, gas piping, fences, signs, and electrical projects in the city.
