EXIT 47:

The State of Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) plans to upgrade to the Exit 47 (Central Avenue/Dixie Drive) interchange with I-75 in West Carrollton. This ODOT project would convert Central Avenue to two-way travel from 0.25 mile west of the interchange ("The Point") east to Dryden Road (approximate 0.25 mile east). This will permit construction of entrance and exit ramps that provide full access to I-75. The upgrade will also provide full access to Dryden Road from either direction on Central Avenue or Dixie Drive.

Environmental assessment and design of the $23.7 mil project will begin in fall, 2004. It is hoped that construction of the improvements could begin as early as mid-2007, but depends on when the State of Ohio can commit the necessary construction funding. Construction funding will not be allocated until the design is completed.

The City is in the process of hiring a consultant to prepare a comprehensive redevelopment plan for approximately 200 acres of land area immediately adjacent to the interchange. Work on the study will begin in late March.

There are three main objectives of the study:

1. To produce a plan for land use and development of property in the vicinity of the upgraded interchange that takes into account the improved access, and matches reasonable expectations for market demand.

2. To produce an infrastructure and utility plan to guide and stimulate desired development in the vicinity of the upgraded interchange that supports the proposed land use plan, and maximizes development potential.

3. To produce a plan that is cost effective and matched to local financial resources for the construction of recommended infrastructure and utility facilities.
